Chocolate Industry Fights Deforestation Caused by Growing Cocoa

Chocolate eggs and rabbits are popular candies in the United States and in other countries, especially during Easter. But while Easter eggs are thought to represent the resurrection of Jesus Christ and rabbits are a symbol of new life, environmental groups are encouraging chocolate lovers to think about the impact of cocoa on deforestation in places like Ivory Coast and Ghana, the world’s top cocoa producers.
